How to use wet film Gauge WFT Gauge?

Wet film comb, also referred to as wet film thickness gauge, thickness gauge, wet film card, wet film thickness gauge,  is a useful tool for measuring the coating thickness of various paints such as paints and varnishes during construction. After applying various coatings, immediately place the wet film comb firmly and vertically on the outer surface of the flat workpiece coating. The coating thickness can be measured immediately.

The wet film comb (comb gauge) is designed and manufactured in accordance with the requirements of the international standard ISO2808-1974 (E) “Paints and Varnishes—Determination of Film Thickness”. The key is used to determine the thickness of the wet film on the outer surface of the paint and can be roughly predicted The approximate thickness of the film when it is dry. This instrument can be used in both the laboratory and the manufacturing control.
The wet film comb (comb gauge) is hexagonal, with supporting base points at both ends of the six faces, and each face has teeth with different lengths. It is very important to measure the wet film thickness of the newly applied paint. On the one hand, the thickness of the wet film affects the coating quality of the product, and on the other hand, coating that is too thick will be expensive. According to different construction methods, it is recommended to use a wet film comb to measure the wet film thickness.
The fine corrosion-resistant stainless steel material is durable and can be used repeatedly after washing. It can measure coating thickness up to 3000μm (120mils). It has a high upper limit of measurement thickness, which is difficult to achieve by other methods for thickness range measurement.

How to use wet film comb (comb gauge):

After the various coatings are applied, immediately place the wet film thickness gauge on the outer surface of the flat wet film coating firmly and vertically, and remove the wet film thickness gauge from the wet film to measure the thickness of the wet film coating. The thickness of the wet film should be between the shortest tooth that is wetted by the wet film and the adjacent tooth that is not soaked. Measure twice in different places in the same way to obtain representative results within a certain range. After use, wash and dry the wet film thickness gauge.

Operation steps of wet film comb (comb gauge):

·When measuring, press the surface of the measuring range close to the expected thickness of the paint film into the wet film vertically.
·Remove the wet film thickness gauge from the wet film
·The thickness of the wet film should be between the shortest tooth that is wetted by the wet film and the adjacent tooth that is not soaked.
After using, wash and dry the wet film thickness gauge.
